  • HOW TO LUBRICATE A GIROLIFT ?

    STEP TO FOLLOW

    1. Lubricate the inside wall of the columns as well as the slides using a dry Teflon-based lubricant,
    2. Lubricate the base of the columns and cylinders with a trickle of transmission oil spread evenly,
    3. Do not lubricate the cylinders,
    4. Never use a dry lubricant with no Teflon (eg Jig-a-loo) to lubricate the inside of the four corners of the columns : the use of any other lubricant will cause an accumulation of particles, dirt and dust. This cluster becomes a paste over time and can make raising and lowering of the columns difficult and could lead to premature wear of the slides, .
    5. Lubricate monthly.

    Refer to LIFT LUBRICATION - 2 POST document.

  • HOW TO CLEAN A GIROLIFT ?

    STEP TO FOLLOW

    1. Coat the Girolift walls with Brake cleaner.
    2. Clean the Girolift walls using a dry and clean rag
    3. Completely dry with air jet
    4. Properly lubricate the Girolift : See FAQ's '' How to lubricate a Girolift?''.
    5. NEVER USE water to clean the Girolift ; water accelerate the corrosion and can contribute to paint peeling.

    Refer to LIFT CLEANING - 2 POSTS document.

  • WHY THE POWER UNIT RUNS BUT THE LIFT DOES NOT RAISE ?

  • WHY THE LIFT GOES DOWN WITHOUT TOUCHING CONTROLS ?

    PROBLEM #1 : The release valve and/or check valve are not sealed.

    SOLUTION #1 : 1.1 Clean release valve and/or check valve.

                               If the problem persists ;

                               1.2 Replace defective release valve and/or check valve.

    PROBLEM #2 : The levelling valve onto the master column is not closed properly.

    PROBLEM #1 : Maladjustment

    SOLUTION #1 : Refer to SWING ARMS LEVELLING – 2 POSTS document.

    PROBLEM #2 : The levelling valve onto the master column is not closed properly.

    SOLUTION #2 : 2.1 Close the levelling valve and level the swing arms.

                             Refer to SWING ARMS LEVELLING – 2 POSTS document.

                              If the problem persists ;

                              2.2 Replace defective levelling valve.

                              2.3 Contact the lift manufacturer.

    PROBLEM #3 : Swing arms are deformed

    SOLUTION #3 : See document according to the model used.

  • WHY USE THE LOAD HOLDERS WHEN USING A GIROLIFT?

    1. Stabilize and maintain the vehicle at level on a mechanical support.
    2. Reduce early wear of components and hydraulic fittings ; allow the hydraulic system to be free of hydraulic pressure between each use.
    3.  Increase user and equipment safety around and under the lift in case of a mechanical break.
  • WHAT TO DO IF THERE IS AN OIL LEAK ON THE LIFT?

    LOCATION #1 : Slave cylinder

    SOLUTION #1 : An oil overflow can be observed only on the slave side. This overflow can be explained by the fact that the cylinder seals cannot be perfectly sealed. A small amount of oil can accumulate in the inner wall of the cylinder and can be evacuated by the breather (hole located at the top of the cylinder) at raising when the lift reaches a higher height than the one normally used.

    The cylinder is not defective. Wipe the residual oil.

    NOTE : If the swing arms levelling is frequent, a repair must be performed.

    LOCATION #2 : Master cylinder

    SOLUTION #2 : Contact lift manufacturer.

    LOCATION #3 : Hydraulic fittings

    SOLUTION #3 : 3.1 Tighten the leaking fitting of the hydraulic system.

                              If the problem persists ;

                              3.2 Replace leaking fitting.

    LOCATION #4 : Air bleeder (Slave cylinder base)

    SOLUTION #4 : 4.1 Tighten the leaking air bleeder.

                              If the problem persists ;

                              4.2 Replace leaking air bleeder.

    NOTE : Add Teflon tape into the trap threads of air bleeder to seal.

    NOTE : Following an oil leak, verify the oil level in the tank when the swing arms are on the ground. Add oil as needed (1/2" from the aerator plug).

  • WHAT TO DO IF THE LIFT IS INOPERATIVE IN RAISE POSITION ?

    PROBLEM #1 : Low oil level in the tank.

    SOLUTION #1 : Add oil to the tank. (1/2" from the aerator plug).

    PROBLEM #2 : The lift installation is not adequate

    SOLUTION #2 : Contact the lift installer or the lift manufacturer.

  • WHAT TO DO IF THE LIFT CAN NOT RAISE RATED LOAD ?

    PROBLEM #1 : The release valve and/or check valve are not closed properly.

    SOLUTION #1 : 1.1 Clean release valve and/or check valve.

                               If the problem persists ;

                               1.2Replace defective release valve and/or check valve.

    PROBLEM #2 : The lifting load is too high.

    SOLUTION #2 : 2.1 Verify the total load of the vehicle.

                              2.2 Reduce vehicle weight (Toolbox, load, etc.) to respect the load rate.

    PROBLEM #3 : The vehicle center of gravity is not centred

    SOLUTION #3 : Move the vehicle to the ground and recenter the center of gravity.

    PROBLEM #4 : Presence of a lubricant other than Teflon-based dry lubricant (e.g. grease) in the inside corners of

                             columns.

    SOLUTION #4 : 4.1 Clean the inside surfaces of the columns with a degreaser.

                               4.2 Refer to LIFT LUBRICATION - 2 POSTS document.

  • WHAT TO DO IF THE LOAD HOLDING DEVICES DO NOT WORK AT THE DESCENT ?

    PROBLEM #1 :The load holders do not move freely.

    SOLUTION #1 :  1.1 Manually verify the movement of the load holders.

                                1.2 Clean or release the load holder.

                                1.3 Remplace defective load holder.

    PROBLEM #2 : No pneumatic pressure

    SOLUTION #2 : Verify if the pneumatic supply is functional.

    PROBLEM #3 : Air evacuates from pneumatic tubes.

    SOLUTION #3 : Cut off the pierced pneumatic tube part. Join 2 healthy pneumatic tubes by using an air union.

    PROBLEM #4 : Defective pneumatic cylinder.

    SOLUTION #4 : Replace defective pneumatic cylinder.

    PROBLEM #5 : Defective pneumatic valve (unlocking valve)

    SOLUTION #5 : Replace defective pneumatic valves (unlocking valve).

  • WHAT IS THE PRODUCTION TIME OF A CUSTOM-BUILT LIFT ?

    Although the production time may vary according to the complexity of the project, the average delivery time for a custom-built hydraulic lift is approximately 6 to 8 weeks.  As the manufacturing is entirely carried out on site, we are in a position to meet our clientele needs concerning production deadlines.  Customer satisfaction is one of the major concerns of the whole Girolift team.

  • WHAT TYPE OF OIL IS USED FOR A GIROLIFT?

    The type of oil used for Girolift devices is grade 32 hydraulic oil.

  • WHAT IS THE AVERAGE LIFE OF A GIROLIFT ?

    Since 1993, we have been manufacturing hydraulic vehicule lifts.  The first Girolift were installed more than 25 years ago; the majority is still currently operating.  Hence,  Girolift ranks among the most sustainable lifts on the market.
